TRD-4: The Tissue Foundry and the Scalable, Modular, Automated and Closed (SMAC) Approach

TRD-4 integrates sensors and actuators developed in the three other TRDs with the automation and data management system of the Tissue Foundry line(s). To demonstrate manufacturing capabilities of the newly developed technologies, a modular platform approach is used, following major goals:

(1) To develop a SMAC-TEMP manufacturing process

(2) To demonstrate, verify, and validate the new manufacturing and measurements technologies

(3) To coalesce the industry through standardization and interoperability across diverse subsystems

(4) to highlight unanticipated technology gaps and generate project calls to address them
